From December 5 to 7, 2025, 2025 5th International Conference on Electrical Engineering and Control Science (IC2ECS 2025), was successfully convened. The conference was co‑hosted by China University of Petroleum (Beijing) and China Science Daily, and co‑organized by the Beijing Key Laboratory of Petroleum Data Mining, the Beijing Key Laboratory of Oil and Gas Optics, the Beijing Association of Automation, and the Beijing Society of Artificial Intelligence. The event brought together numerous experts, scholars, industry professionals, and young researchers from the fields of electrical engineering, control science, artificial intelligence, and related disciplines, both from China and abroad. Centered on the theme "Leading the Industrial Future with High‑Level Technological Supply," participants engaged in in‑depth discussions on cutting‑edge research, technological breakthroughs, and industrial applications.

Professor Lin Botao, Dean of the School of Artificial Intelligence at China University of Petroleum (Beijing), presided over the forum and the conference opening ceremony. Mr. Wang Weizuo, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of China Science Daily, and Ms. Yan Ting, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Artificial Intelligence at China University of Petroleum (Beijing), delivered opening remarks on behalf of the co‑hosts. They fully affirmed the significance of the conference in promoting interdisciplinary integration and fostering industry‑university‑research collaborative innovation. Distinguished guests including Professor Chen Tao, Associate Pro‑Vice‑Chancellor of the University of Surrey (UK), Professor Yu Junzhi of Peking University, and Professor Wang Youqing of Beijing University of Chemical Technology, along with many other experts and scholars, attended the opening ceremony.

In the keynote session, Professor Chen Tao, Associate Pro‑Vice‑Chancellor of the University of Surrey (UK), opened with an online presentation, delivering an in‑depth report entitled "Machine Learning‑Driven Modeling and Optimization Development of Skin Formulations," demonstrating the powerful potential of data science in biomedical engineering.

Professor Yu Junzhi of Peking University (National High‑Level Talent / IEEE Fellow) presented on "Key Technologies of Bio‑inspired Aerial‑Aquatic Cross‑Domain Robots," revealing exciting frontier advances in intelligent robotics.

Professor Wang Youqing of Beijing University of Chemical Technology (National High‑Level Talent / IET Fellow) shared "Theoretical Methods and Industrial Applications of Multi‑View Clustering Analysis," illustrating the deep penetration of advanced control theories into practical industrial scenarios.

Professor Gao Xiaoyong, Associate Dean of the School of Artificial Intelligence at China University of Petroleum (Beijing), delivered a forward‑looking talk entitled "When Large Models Meet Industrial Process Control: Explorations and Reflections," offering insights into how large AI models are empowering traditional industrial control.

A special Industry Alumni Forum was established to strengthen dialogue between academia and industry. Mr. Chen Yanrun, Product Manager of Beijing Yadan Petroleum Technology Development Co., Ltd.; Mr. Wei Fangfang, General Manager of Anhui Zhongkong Instrument Co., Ltd.; and Mr. Mao Jun, General Manager of the Smart Oilfield Division of PetroChina Kunlun Digital Intelligence, delivered excellent presentations on practical topics such as low‑carbon intelligent oil recovery, multiphase flow metering in oil and gas, and AI‑empowered whole‑chain oil and gas production. These talks showcased the fruitful achievements and broad prospects of cutting‑edge technologies taking root in the energy sector. Subsequently, young scholars from multiple universities and research institutions across the country presented their latest research work in electrical engineering, control science, and artificial intelligence.

The conference honored a number of outstanding academic achievements. Wang Kesheng from Shandong University received the Best Application Paper Award; the team led by Wu Yungang from Beijing Jiaotong University won the Best Student Paper Award; and the team of Wang Liangcheng from China University of Petroleum (Beijing) was awarded the Best Paper Award for their exceptional research. In addition, a Best Poster Award was presented to encourage the innovative spirit of young scholars and researchers. In the afternoon, a Young Scholars Forum featured 18 high‑quality oral presentations, where young scholars from various universities and research institutions showcased their latest research in electrical engineering, control science, and artificial intelligence. Three recipients were selected for the Best Oral Presentation Award, providing a platform and positive incentive for the academic growth of the younger generation.

This conference not only provided a high‑level, interdisciplinary exchange platform for experts and scholars in the field, effectively fostering academic interaction and potential research collaborations, but also injected new vitality and ideas into the use of technological innovation to lead the industrial future through in‑depth industry‑academia‑research dialogue. Participants expressed that they had greatly benefited from the event and looked forward to gathering again next year to continue promoting innovation and development in related fields.
